IP Rate (Sealing) : Basically is the device sealing against external environment.

  • IP[x][y] Where [x] indicates protection level against contact and ingress of objects; [y] indicates protection level against water drops.

    • [x] = 0 means No Protected against contact and ingress of objects

    • [x] = 1 means Protected against any large surface of the body, such as the back of a hand. Protected against solid objects greater than 50mm in size.

    • [x] = 2 means Protected against access to hazardous parts by a finger or similar object. Protected against solid objects greater than 12.5mm in size.

    • [x] = 3 means Protected against access to hazardous parts with a tool or thick wire. Protected against solid objects greater than 2.5mm in size.

    • [x] = 4 means Protected against access to hazardous parts with a wire, a screw, etc. Protected against solid objects greater than 1mm in size.

    • [x] = 5 means Protected against access to hazardous parts. Dust protected.

    • [x] = 6 means Protected against access to hazardous parts. Dust-tight.

  • [y] = 0 means No Protection

  • [y] = 1 means Protected against water drops

  • [y] = 2 means Protected against water drops at 15 degree angle

  • [y] = 3 means Protected against water spray at 60 degree angle

  • [y] = 4 means Protected against water splashing from any angle

  • [y] = 5 means Protected against water jets from any angle

  • [y] = 6 means Protected against powerful water jets and heavy seas

  • [y] = 7 means Protected against the effects of temporary submersion in water. Test requires 30 minutes at 1 meter depth.

  • [y] = 8 means Protected against the effects of temporary submersion. Customer specification applies and specific testing may be required.

  • [y] = 9K means Protects against high pressures associated with steam cleaning.
